Giving people back their control to develop their infinite potential!

Our default mode when we are in a position of power such as being someone’s “superior” in work (boss) or being a teacher, is to give advice. Or to teach.
One thing I have learnt is that no one wants to be told what to do. No one wants to be taught anything. No one wants uninvited advice.
People want to learn instead of being taught. Please want to ask for advice instead of having advice given to them.
People want to feel in control and they want to be the boss.
Once we get this, we start seeing the world differently.
We show up differently and build different environments. If we are a teacher, we would be more effective trying to help the student create the motivation to learn and “ask to be taught something” rather than teaching them. If we are a salesman, we can skillfully make the customer want to learn about our offering and our products and services, rather than giving it to them uninvited.
When we realise that we can hand control back to the other party and still be even more effective, we become more humble in what we have to offer and our offer actually increases in value.
Wouldn’t this a much more effective way to help people develop their infinite potential? Giving control back to the other side?
