Would our mind be in a more positive state if we decide to enjoy the flowers and just welcome the weeds but leave them alone for the moment?

When we go into our garden, we see what we choose to see.

Some people see only flowers, not only flowers, but the most beautiful and colourful ones. Others see only the weeds and the broken and half dead flowers.

What we pay attention to grows and gets amplified in our mind. It’s very tempting to tell ourselves the story that our consciousness has nothing to do with us, it’s something that we have no choice in and that it’s decided by something beyond us.

In fact, it’s all our choice. Just like what we decide to focus at when we open our eyes, we actually choose to focus on what we focus on. It’s just that normally most of us are on autopilot set on our past habit energies. Most of us immediately zoom in onto the negatives stuff in front of us and so we tend to allow only the negative stuff into our mind. This has a snowballing effect in that the negatives just get more and more amplified.

What if we make a choice and decide to open our mind only to positive stuff. At least to realise what is positive and what is negative, and say “no thanks, right now I don’t need anything negative” and I will water the flowers only and not pay any attention to the weeds.

If we don’t water the weeds and not dwell on them, but instead focus on taking care of the flowers, watering them well and adding fertilisers, what will surely happen is that the flowers will grow more and more beautiful and plentiful, and the weeds will simply be starved of any nutrition and water and soon be on it’s way to the exit.
