If you are reading this blog post with your own eyes, however weak or “imperfect”  they are, and you are able to just open your eyes to enter a paradise of forms and colours, and feast on the full beauty of a sunset or another sentient being, a human or a dog,  looking into your eyes, you can choose to be aware of just one of the thousands of conditions of happiness.

If you can’t see, but are still hearing this blog post because someone is reading it to you, you can choose to be aware that you have  available one condition of happiness. As this is not available to people who have lost their hearing.

When we let go of the picture of the “ideal life”, or “ideal world”, or the “ideal me”, or the “ideal bank balance” which sometimes is a story we tell ourselves that we need in order to be happy, we can choose to let go of our chains, and embrace the freedom that is available to us. The freedom to choose to be aware of the conditions which we already have right now, to be happy and content. Just being aware of all the conditions of happiness that we have in the present, without going to the past or future, is itself a juicy and tasty job.

Oh, right now, I am aware that my heart is functioning well, probably not “perfectly” (I haven’t checked it for years), but well enough to keep me alive without any outside help. For people who have problems with their heart, my functioning heart their envy.

When we choose to celebrate what we already have, we are not denying our infinite potential to grow and to offer more to the world. We are simply shrinking the negative states of mind which limit our happiness and joy, and can step up more effective to master more skills and mental states so we can offer more happiness, joy and cool work and stuff to the world.

We can offer “more” and master more, if we can be aware of all the goodies we already have.

I wonder if  offering happiness, joy and helping relieve suffering, to others isn’t what it’s all about? And if we can’t offer them to ourselves first, whether it is possible to offer them others?
